Administrator Features

Student Management and Tracking

The LMS provides a robust way to manage three levels of users:

  1. Administrators have the ability to perform all tasks in the system, including changing preferences, adding and enrolling students, managing course groups, and so on.

  2. Instructors can enroll new users and assign them courses in the system, but they cannot affect global changes. They also have their own sets of students, and cannot access students that are assigned to other instructors.

  3. Students have access to view the courseware as assigned by either instructors or administrators.

The Home Screen for the LMS features a quick reference chart to illustrate course activation (when a student has begun an assigned course) alongside course completions. This can give a quick idea for how active your students are in their courses, and how long they’re taking to complete.

The Summary Report gives quick metrics on overall LMS usage. Have a question about how many tests have been assigned, how many students have completed field performance reports (FPRs), or how many students have participated in the LMS in the past quarter? All of this and much more is available on the Summary Report.

Field Performance and Progress Reports

Knowing how well a student is performing on the tests at the end of each unit only gives you one metric to gauge their performance by. In a skills-rich field such as electric utility linework, how well a student performs a task is just as important as how well know it. But different trainers look for different criteria in determining how well a student is performing a task. The FPR gives you a way to apply a more objective metric to a very subjective item: by defining specific items to look for and prompting for feedback on a student’s performance, it gives a better idea for how well a student is performing. The FPR information is displayed right alongside the knowledge test results in the student’s Profile.

Realtime Performance Data

The student enrollment screen shows which courses the student is enrolled in, when they last accessed them, whether or not a field performance report (FPR) has been completed for them, and what their most recent test date is. But it can also be used for realtime monitoring! As a student proceeds through an assigned course, their progress bar for the course they’re in will also advance in realtime, without the need to refresh the page.
